The Tree Theory: Rethinking Physical Wellbeing

What if we looked at our physical health like a tree?

In our Tree Theory, our bodies mirror the structure and behaviour of trees.

Our roots—our foundational movement patterns—are the way we bend, lift, push, and pull in daily life. These everyday motions, when done correctly and efficiently, create a strong, stable base. Without solid roots, even the strongest tree can fall.

The trunk and branches represent our bodies—our strength, posture, and mobility. How we move through life determines how well we grow. A body built on faulty movement is like a crooked tree: vulnerable, inefficient, and easily worn down.

Then there’s sunlight and rain—our rest, recovery, and nutrition. Just as a tree needs both to thrive, we need quality sleep, downtime, and proper fuel to rebuild and support our bodies. Without them, growth stalls, and health declines.

Look around, and you’ll see many of us aren’t growing into strong, resilient trees. We’re becoming brittle, undernourished, and easily broken—just one storm (injury, illness, or stress) away from collapse. This is the essence of the obesity and lifestyle crisis we face today.

Whether you're training for a championship or just want to pick up your grandchild without pain, it all starts at the roots. Strength, longevity, and vitality come from mastering the basics, recovering well, and fuelling smart.

Grow like a tree. Build strong roots. Soak up the sun and rain. And become the healthiest version of you.
